Course Description: In this course, students will learn about the principles of print and online storytelling as they relate to our communities and current events. The course defines what it means for students to become a conscious media consumer. Students will learn investigative skills, responsible and ethical documentation, and writing techniques that focus on the introductory skills of journalism. In alignment to our three enduring outcomes of reading with intent, writing with purpose, and speaking with clarity, students will critically read news stories, write their own feature articles, and conduct interviews.

Course Description: Students will learn foundational skills in computer hardware, software, troubleshooting, and network basics. Topics include understanding operating systems, setting up and maintaining devices, and resolving common technical issues. Through hands-on activities and real-world scenarios, students will build the confidence and knowledge needed to succeed in entry-level IT roles.
Note: This course prepares students to earn the CompTIA A+ Core 1 Certification.

Course Description: This course follows the CompTIA Network+ curriculum, preparing students to earn the Network+ certification. It covers key networking concepts, including the OSI model, cloud computing, routing, switching, wireless configuration, network security, and troubleshooting. Students will gain the skills needed to build, secure, and maintain reliable networks while ensuring business continuity.

Course Description: Students will learn the essentials of network security, including compliance and operational security; threats and vulnerabilities; risk management; application, data, and host security; access control and identity management; cryptography, mobile device security, and virtualization. The use of live virtual machines and case studies allows students to explore real-world security scenarios and allow students to apply what they have learned.
Note: This course prepares students for the CompTIA Network+.

Course Description: Accounting A is the first semester of a two-semester course. This course teaches accounting while placing emphasis on conceptual understanding and financial statement analysis to encourage students to apply accounting concepts to real-world situations and make informed business decisions. Topics include transactions and methods of accounting for a service business as a sole proprietorship. During Accounting B, students will continue their study of the accounting cycle and complete an accounting simulation. This simulation mimics keeping accounting records for an event planning business. This will be mailed to students.

FIRST AID/CPR/AED
Course Length: Quarter Course

Prerequisite(s): None
Course Description: Be prepared, not scared to provide care at home, work, or in your community by learning the appropriate care to provide first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies. Within this course you will learn basic first aid knowledge in treating different types of injuries, heatstroke, choking, allergic reactions, asthma, and more. You will learn how to respond to and care for people who may be going through a medical crisis. By becoming familiar with Adult First Aid/CPR/AED, you will learn skills to offer quick treatments, prevent victim’s conditions from becoming worse, and help preserve life.
*Note: This course requires you to demonstrate skill proficiency to a certified instructor in-person to meet the requirement for certification. 50% of the course is self-paced online and 50% is in-person skills that include discussion, practical application, and skills testing. Before students can attend the in-person course, the online course must be completed. Potential locations for the in-person skills session include Green Bay, Madison, Milwaukee, La Crosse, and/or Eau Claire. Dates and locations to be determined.

Course Description: This course fosters an interdisciplinary approach to studying United States history, social life, literature, politics, arts, and popular culture in local, national, and global contexts. Our curriculum is directly aligned with fostering students’ critical, ethical, and global thinking. At the core, our courses explore the question, “What does it mean to live in America?” We will focus on the three enduring outcomes of English: reading with intent, writing with purpose, and speaking with clarity. We will also focus on the three enduring outcomes of Social Studies: thinking critically, engaging civically, and communicating clearly.
