Course Description: In English 11 B, students will continue to build on and grow the skills they fostered in English 9 and 10, especially as they relate to reading, writing, and critical thinking. This course focuses on strengthening the ability to read with intent, write with purpose, and speak with clarity. Students will practice counterclaim writing, nonfiction and fiction reading passages strategies for comprehension, and rebuttal speaking skills. The outcomes allow for student choice, whether it be by method of showing the skills or by topic. This course is appropriate for students of all skill levels who enjoy open-ended, skill-based assessments.
