Course Description: Dreaming of starting your own business? This course is designed to inspire and nurture the entrepreneurial spirit. Students will examine the entrepreneurial process and characteristics of successful entrepreneurs, how to identify and evaluate entrepreneurial opportunities, and the critical elements of an effective business plan -- including management, marketing, and financial data. So whether you dream of a new business, or have a plan that needs further development, this course can help you reach your goals.

Course Description:  Have you ever wondered how a product makes it to market? Do you know how a business decides what type of advertising to use, and who the ideal customer is? Marketing is the study of the business activities that direct the flow of goods and services from producers to consumers. In this course, you will learn how marketers can satisfy consumer needs and wants, determine which markets the business can best serve, and decide which products and services can best serve these markets. Topics include buyer behavior, marketing research principles, demand analysis, distribution, financing, pricing, product management, and social media marketing.  Students will also complete an online retail marketing simulation.  

Note:  Students will prepare for the *ASK Marketing Certification.

Prerequisite(s): Computer Literacy or placement exam

Course Description:  Understanding numbers and analyzing data is vital. Learn the functionality of Excel with our Microsoft certification course. This certification course moves swiftly using project-based learning to simulate the time management and professionalism of the workplace environment. To be successful in the course, students need to commit to the course timelines and procedures. Students will learn advanced skills used by every business to create budgets, utilize data analysis tools, functions, pivot tables, automation with macros to create charts in graphs and many more features. Students will take the Microsoft Certification Exam for Excel.

Platform(s):  Students in this course will be expected to access multiple “outside” platforms including GMetrix or TestOut Software, MSi, Certiport (for certification), and Madison College platforms, to name a few.

Personal Computers:  It is strongly recommended that students in this course use a Stride K12 issued computer exclusively for content in this course.

Topics include budgeting, identity theft, saving, investing, risk management, online banking,  and careful use of credit. This course teaches students how to plan and manage their personal finances, how to live a financially successful life, and what their financial responsibilities are as citizens.

Note:  Students will prepare for the W!SE Financial Literacy Certification
