Course Description: This course guides students to a deeper understanding of biological concepts including the diversity and unity of life, energy and the processes of life, homeostasis, and genetics. Students learn about regulation, communication, and signaling in living organisms, as well as interactions of biological systems. Students carry out a number of learning activities, including readings, interactive exercises, extension activities, hands-on laboratory experiments, and practice assessments. These activities are designed to help students gain an understanding of the science process and critical-thinking skills necessary to answer questions on the AP Biology Exam. The content aligns to the sequence of topics recommended by the College Board.

Course Description:   This course covers basic animal science and livestock industry material as well as current issues in animal agriculture. The course includes information students need to know about livestock and poultry husbandry & management for classroom study and beyond. In this course, students will gain a solid understanding of nutrition, feeding, and reproduction of a variety of livestock species to maintain a productive animal. Students will also explore advancements in animal husbandry & management due to the implementation of cutting-edge technology.

AP ® ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE A/B

Prerequisites: Two years of high school laboratory science, including life science and physical science, along with at least one year of algebra    

Description: The AP Environmental Science course is designed to engage students with the scientific principles, concepts, and methodologies required to understand the interrelationships within the natural world. The course requires that students identify and analyze natural and human-made environmental problems, evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and examine alternative solutions for resolving or preventing them. Environmental science is interdisciplinary, embracing topics from geology, biology, environmental studies, environmental science, chemistry, and geography. The AP Environmental Science course is designed to be the equivalent of a one-semester, introductory college course in environmental science.

Understand the design process and bring your ideas to life. Explore various inventions and solutions that have solved problems across industries. Students will also use the Engineering Design Process and an Engineering Notebook to reverse engineer a product of their choice.

The program consists of in-depth online lessons including extensive animations, collaborative explorations, and hands-on laboratory experiments students can conduct at home.

The course uses a storyline structure that connects to real-world phenomena, and answers questions like: How can we slow the flow of energy on Earth to protect vulnerable coastal communities?; What causes lightning and why are some places sager than others when it strikes?; How could we find and use the resources we need to live beyond Earth?; Why are oysters dying, and how can we use chemistry to protect them?; and Which fuels should we design our next generation vehicles to use?
