Course Description: This course is designed as an exploration of the business career pathways. Students will get an introduction to business careers so that they can better assess which pathway to pursue. In this course, students explore basic concepts in the broad areas of business and marketing, as well as career options in each area. Students study the concepts of marketing, and financial management in addition to other common business-related functions. Students complete projects to develop a deeper understanding of the roles these business functions play.

Description: This course provides a comprehensive survey of all key areas: atomic structure, chemical bonding and reactions, solutions, stoichiometry, thermochemistry, and more. The course uses a storyline structure that connects to real-world phenomena, and answers questions like: How can we slow the flow of energy on Earth to protect vulnerable coastal communities?; What causes lightning and why are some places sager than others when it strikes?; How could we find and use the resources we need to live beyond Earth?; Why are oysters dying, and how can we use chemistry to protect them?; and Which fuels should we design our next generation vehicles to use?

Description:In Introduction to College Reading and Study Skills, students will focus on enhancing college reading and study techniques and applying these strategies to a variety of college level materials. Emphasis will be given to developing the critical thinking and reading skills necessary to be successful college readers. Topics covered will include reading comprehension strategies, making inferences, identifying main ideas and supporting details, researching and giving live presentations, analyzing persuasive writing, and evaluating texts. NOTE: This course is a semester-long, dual credit course via Madison College and holds students to a college standard; it is appropriate for students at or close to grade-level performance of ELA skills who exhibit proficient time management and self-directed learning skills. This course is a combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning and has a live attendance requirement via Madison College. Students who successfully complete the course earn college credit with Madison College (provided they registered for the course with Madison College) and 1 ELA credit per course; additionally, the dual credit could transfer to other colleges and universities, depending on the school.

Description:   Introduction to College Writing, while assuming competence in basic paragraph and essay structure, reinforces principles of composition that employ critical thinking in reading and writing and develops students' grammatical competence and writing style. Through multiple revisions and workshops, students acquire writing process awareness, self-advocacy skills for understanding and managing assignments, and information literacy skills to prepare them for college writing. Topics covered will include writing summaries, researching using databases and college-level sources, crafting annotated bibliographies, participating in peer review, and writing research papers.

NOTE: This course is a semester-long, dual credit course via Madison College and holds students to a college standard; it is appropriate for students at or close to grade-level performance of ELA skills who exhibit proficient time management and self-directed learning skills. Course Description: In this course, students will learn about the principles of print and online storytelling as they relate to our communities and current events. The course defines what it means for students to become a conscious media consumer. Students will learn investigative skills, responsible and ethical documentation, and writing techniques that focus on the introductory skills of journalism. In alignment to our three enduring outcomes of reading with intent, writing with purpose, and speaking with clarity, students will critically read news stories, write their own feature articles, and conduct interviews.

Prerequisite(s): None

Course Description:  Using project-based learning, students will explore the basics of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.  Students will create documents that will enhance introductory skills such as manipulating text and images to create effective projects in both programs.  Students will understand the social and ethical issues surrounding the internet, information, and security. To be successful, students need to commit to the course timelines and guidelines.  Students will take the IC3 Certification.  This certification consists of three exams: Living Online, Computing Fundamentals, and Key Applications.

Personal Computers:  It is strongly recommended that students in this course use a Stride K12 issued computer exclusively for content in this course.

Note:  Dual credit can be earned for IT Security Awareness
