PHOTOGRAPHY - Short Course

Course Description: In this independent learning class, students will learn basics of photography, including building an understanding of aperture, shutter speed, lighting, and composition. Students are introduced to the history of photography and basic camera functions. They use the basic techniques of composition and camera functions to build a portfolio of images, capturing people, landscapes, close-ups, and action photographs. Students need to have access to a smartphone with a working back camera or a digital camera.

Course Description: Instructs students in the basics of heavy equipment operation licensure requirements, followed by professional skill building and employment readiness. Note: This course does not provide behind-the-wheel instruction nor completion of the Commercial Drivers License exam. The exam must be scheduled to be taken at a local DMV.

Description: In this 9-week Floral Design course, students will explore the art of floral arranging while learning essential skills such as design principles, floral techniques, basic tools, and proper flower handling. Students will also gain insight into the business side of floral design, including working with customers, budgeting, and pricing arrangements. They will create their own floral arrangements and develop a deeper appreciation for the creativity and craftsmanship behind the floral industry.

Course Description: You’re a virtual learner, why struggle? Reduce the amount of time it takes to respond in the class chat and to complete your homework! In this keyboarding improvement course, students will build the foundation for correct typing technique by learning letter and basic punctuation keys, utilizing all ten fingers. Ten Fingers?? Yes, using ten fingers and practicing allows you to improve your skill, but more importantly, your accuracy and speed. You will be using an online typing program, where I will be able to customize the lessons to suit your needs, and you can work at your own pace.

ACT Prep

Course Description: This quarter-long course will help prepare you for taking the ACT your Junior year. Using a program called Methodize, students will complete different lessons focusing on the core areas of the ACT – English, Mathematics, Reading and Science. This course will offer ACT practice tests that will help students get a better understanding of how the test works and get experienced with the types of questions asked on the ACT. This course is set up as an asynchronous, pass-fail course. To pass the course, you need to complete all of the units within the MethodTestPrep program, as well as complete two different full-length ACT practice tests – one when you first start, and one after you complete the units.
AHA HEARTSAVER® First Aid, CPR, & AED Certification (3rd Quarter)

AHA HEARTSAVER® FIRST AID, CPR, & AED CERTIFICATION
Course Length: 9 weeks 3rd Quarter (Jan 25 - March 19th)

Grades: 10-12 (9th by instructor approval)

Course Description: Be prepared, not scared to provide care at home, work, or in your community by learning the appropriate care to provide first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies. Within this course you will learn basic first aid knowledge in treating different types of injuries, heatstroke, choking, allergic reactions, asthma, and more. You will learn how to respond to and care for people who may be going through a medical crisis. By becoming familiar with Adult First Aid/CPR/AED, you will learn skills to offer quick treatments, prevent victim’s conditions from becoming worse, and help preserve life.
*Note: This course requires you to demonstrate skill proficiency to a certified instructor in person to meet the requirement for certification. 50% of the course is self-paced online, and 50% is in-person skills that include discussion, practical application, and skills testing. Before students can attend the in-person course, the online course must be completed. Potential locations for the in-person skills session include Green Bay, Madison, Milwaukee, La Crosse, and/or Eau Claire. Dates and locations to be determined.
