Course Description: This half-credit course will introduce the student to an overview of good nutrition principles that are needed for human physical and mental wellness. Discussion of digestion, basic nutrients, weight management, sports and fitness, and life-span nutrition is included. Application to today’s food and eating trends, plus learning to assess for reliable nutrition information is emphasized.

PHARMACY TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATION COURSE (FLEXLAB) A/B

Course Length: Yearlong Course

Credit: 1.0 credit

Grades: 11-12

Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of any Health Sciences course at the Intermediate Level

Course Description: This course is designed to educate and train students in the field of Pharmacy Technician. This course is taught in a hybrid model that uses mastery grading. Students will be given a semester course outline for independent study, will meet with the teacher at least once a month. This course will cover the areas of prescription processing, biopharmaceutics, drug activity, types of medications, dosage calculations, and common mathematical formulas and conversions. Students will also learn about HIPAA, drug regulation and control, inventory management, financial considerations, legal and ethical issues, sterile and non-sterile compounding, and units of measurement. After all coursework has been completed at 80% or better, the student will be able to sign up for the Pharmacy Technician Certification exam. Platform: Students will use the MedCerts platform.

Description: This course provides a comprehensive survey of all key areas: physical systems, measurement, kinematics, dynamics, momentum, energy, thermodynamics, waves, electricity, magnetism, and more. The course uses a storyline structure that connects to real-world phenomena, and answers questions like: How can we design more reliable systems to meet our communities’ energy needs?; How do forces in Earth’s interior determine what will happen to the surface we see?; What can we do to make driving safer for everyone?; How have collisions with objects from space changed Earth in the past, and how could they affect our future?; and How do we use radiation in our lives, and is it safe for humans?

Course Description: – Do you have a green thumb or struggle to keep plants alive? No matter your level of plant expertise, this class is a great fit for those wanting to grow their plant knowledge. Throughout the class, students will dig into the science of plants, learning about their parts and structures, how they grow and function, what’s happening at the cellular level, their life cycle, and the ways they reproduce. Students will engage in interactive activities and hands-on labs designed to bring concepts to life and help make the science of plants tangible.

Course Description: In this course, students take a broader look at computational and problem-solving skills while learning the language of algebra. Students extend their understanding of order of operations, equations and inequalities, linear relationships, functions, properties of exponents, polynomials, representing data, irrational numbers, and the pythagorean theorem.
